Promotion of CSE new market in Cyprus and Athens

The Cyprus Stock Exchange undertook and completed successfully the campaign for the promotion of the Newly-Developing Market.  The campaign falls within the framework of the adoption of the new CSE development plans that fall under its Strategic Plan.

The new CSE Market is a versatile trading mechanism and addresses to businesses that are seeking for finance from the market via simplified and flexible procedures and with low cost.

The CSE proceeded with a series of targeted presentations in Cyprus, which were attended by a satisfactory number of representatives from business organizations.  Specifically, the CSE informed the members of the Nicosia Chamber of Commerce and Industry, of the Employers’ and Industrialists’ Federation, of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus and of the CSE Members (Investment Firms – brokerages).  Also, a special seminar was organized in cooperation with the Human Resource Development Authority of Cyprus, which addressed to members of audit firms, brokerages and law firms.

During the events, the CSE presented the general characteristics of the New Market, the offered benefits and advantages as well as the prospects for the market factors.  Also, it explained the listing procedures as well as the role of the nominated advisor.  The attendants raised several questions, which were answered and clarified.

Promotion in Athens

In addition, on November 18-20, 2009, the Cyprus Stock Exchange – within the framework of the annual event and contacts – had a number of contacts with representatives of the main market factors in Athens.

At the same time, the Cyprus Stock Exchange organized a presentation / round table talk at the ASE offices.  The CSE presented the new developments in the Cypriot stock market and its development programs, with special emphasis to the Newly-Developing Market.  The presentation was followed by a useful deliberation in relation to proposals resulting via their position as CSE distant members.

In this context, the CSE had contacts with investors and companies from Greece, who were interested in the new market.

It is noted that the first applications for the new markets have already been submitted and 7 Nomads have been registered.
