CSE success in Europe after reelection of N. Metaxas in FESE

The Cyprus Stock Exchange had a new great success on a European level.  FESE decided unanimously to reelect the CSE General Manager, Nontas Metaxas as Chairman of the Budget and Audit Committee and member of its Board of Directors.

This great honour for Cyprus occurred on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 in Brussels, where FESE held a meeting.

The unanimous reelection of Mr. Metaxas is a recognition of his positive offer during the previous terms of office, while it will affect positively the CSE, whose role is boosted on a European basis.

It is worth noting that FESE will be called to deal with significant issues, such as the upcoming restructuring of the institutional framework of the EU for stock market issues and the relevant directives.

The CSE, via Mr. Metaxas, will have an important role in the deliberations for those significant issues.  With the reelection of Mr. Metaxas, the CSE – despite its small size – will take part in the decisions concerning the future of the stock market in Europe.

It is noted that his appointment in the Budget and Audit Committee is based on the service for the proposal of stock market issues, taking into account their integrity and not on any other criteria concerning the geographical distribution of the EU members or any other political criteria.
