The European Benchmark Regulation (BMR) introduces a common framework to ensure the accuracy and integrity of indexes used as benchmarks in the European Union and applies to i) provision of benchmarks ii) contribution of input data to a benchmark iii) use of a benchmark within the European Union.
The regulation ensures that benchmarks established and used in the European Union are robust, reliable, representative and fit for purpose. In addition, it aims to improve both the procedure for inputting data as well as the quality of data.
The Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission during its meeting on August, 3rd
2020 approved the CSE application for authorisation and registration under article 34 of EU Benchmark Regulation (BMR) (EU2016/1011),
to the public register establish and maintain by ESMA, according to article 36, and on the basis of Commission Regulation (EU) 2018/1646 / 13.07.2018, of BMR as benchmark administrator.
